According to the second chapter of the Book of Acts, on the Day of Pentecost the followers of Jesus received what they needed to communicate the Gospel to the world around them: the gift of different languages. What gifts do we need today to communicate the Gospel to a world still under gathering restrictions? On-line worship is certainly one tool, but are there other ways of connecting with one another?
This week’s service will be prerecorded and posted on the website as a Live Stream at 10:30 AM. It will also be available for viewing on the following:

WELCOME
RELIGHTING THE CHRIST CANDLE
Breathe on us, Holy Spirit of God, with gifts of new life, inspiration, and fresh energy to witness to your love.
GATHERING PRAYER (from Celebrate God’s Presence)
One: Spirit of the living God, visit us again this day of Pentecost.
All: Come, Holy Spirit, come.
One: On rushing winds that sweep away all barriers,
All: Come, Holy Spirit, come.
One: With tongues of fire that set our hearts aflame,
All: Come, Holy Spirit, come.
One: With speech that unites the babel of our tongues,
All: Come, Holy Spirit, come.
One: With love that overleaps the boundaries of race and nation,
All: Come, Holy Spirit, come.
One: With power from above to make our weakness strong,
All: Come, Holy Spirit, come.
One: In the name of God, the Holy One, and of Jesus Christ our Saviour,
All: Come, Holy Spirit, come.
HYMN NO. 377 VU: “Holy Spirit, Hear Us” (William H. Parker, alt.; Public Domain)
Holy Spirit, hear us, help us while we sing;
Breathe into the music of the praise we bring.
Holy Spirit, shine now on the book we read;
Light its holy pages with the truth we need.
Holy Spirit, prompt us when we bow to pray;
Speak within and teach us what we ought to say.
Holy Spirit, help us daily by your might,
What is wrong to conquer, and to choose the right.

Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me.

Make us one in heart and mind, make us one in love:
Humble, caring, selfless, sharing.

OFFERTORY PRAYER
PRAYERS: For the Work and Mission of the Church
PRAYER OF JESUS (p. 921 VU)
HYMN NO. 625 VU: “I Feel the Winds of God” (Jesse Adams, Public Domain)
I feel the winds of God today; today my sail I lift,
Though heavy oft with drenching spray and torn with many a rift;
If hope but light the water’s crest, and Christ my bark will use,
I’ll seek the seas at his behest, and brave another cruise.
It is the wind of God that dries my vain regretful tears,
Until with braver thoughts shall rise the purer, brighter years;
If cast on shores of selfish ease or pleasure I should be,
O let me feel your freshening breeze, and I’ll put back to sea.
If ever I forget your love and how that love was shown,
Lift high the blood-red flag above; it bears your name alone.
Great pilot of my onward way, you will not let me drift.
I feel the winds of God today; today my sail I lift.
COMMISSION & BLESSING
HYMN NO. 381 VU: “Spirit of Life” (Carolyn McDade, One License No. A722095)
Spirit of Life, come unto me. Sing in my heart all the stirrings of compassion.
Blow in the wind, rise in the sea; move in the hand, giving life the shape of justice.
Roots hold me close; wings set me free; Spirit of Life, come to me, come to me.
