WHERE WE'RE FROM
St. David's United Church's history goes back to the 19th century with the establishment of Methodist and Presbyterian Churches in the Leduc area. These congregations amalgamated in the early 20th century and later became part of the new United Church of Canada when it was established in 1925.
OUR CURRENT HOME
The current sanctuary, which is lined with colourful stained-glass windows (many of which are pictured on this website), was built in the 1950s (the interior was renovated in 2001). It seats about 240 people. The Christian Education wing was built in the 1970s. Both parts of the building have ground level access. The church building is fully wheelchair accessible and there are hearing-assist devices available during worship services. Out in the churchyard are a garden shed modeled after the Clearwater United Church, a beautiful Memorial Garden and a meditative Labyrinth.
PART OF THE WIDER BODY OF CHRIST
St. David's is part of the United Church of Canada, a uniquely Canadian denomination formed in 1925, by an Act of Parliament which united the Methodist and Congregationalist churches with about two-thirds of the Presbyterian church.
The United Church is organized into thirteen regional/cultural Conferences, which are further organized in to ninety-four Presbyteries/Districts which are regional groupings of various congregations and other ministries.
St. David's United Church in Leduc is part of Yellowhead Presbytery, which is part of Alberta and Northwest Conference.
